Orthodontics
What is this treatment?
Orthodontics is the dental specialty focused on diagnosing, preventing and correcting the position of teeth and jaws. At ZANI Dental, we offer two main options: traditional fixed braces (metal or ceramic brackets bonded to the teeth) and clear removable aligners, which are nearly invisible and highly comfortable. Orthodontic treatment not only improves the aesthetics of your smile, it also enhances bite function, makes teeth easier to clean, prevents premature wear and reduces the risk of temporomandibular joint problems. Every case is planned individually, taking into account your age, aesthetic preferences and the complexity of the problem. Clear aligners are an excellent choice for adults seeking a discreet treatment that fits their lifestyle.
Who is it suitable for?
Orthodontics is suitable for patients of all ages - children, teenagers and adults. Treatment is recommended for people with: crooked, crowded or widely spaced teeth; bite problems (overbite, underbite, open bite, crossbite); jaw discrepancies (incorrect size or position); or simply for those seeking a straighter, more harmonious smile. For children, an orthodontic assessment is recommended around age 7-8, even if treatment starts later. For adults, there is no age limit - an increasing number of adults are choosing orthodontic treatment, and with clear aligners, it has never been more convenient. During your consultation, the orthodontist will advise whether braces or aligners are more suitable for your specific case.

What to know before and after treatment
During orthodontic treatment, oral hygiene becomes more important than ever - you should brush after every meal and use special floss (superfloss) or interdental brushes to clean around brackets. Avoid hard, sticky and chewy foods (nuts, caramels, chewing gum, crusty bread, whole apples - cut them into pieces instead). After braces are removed, wear your retainers exactly as instructed - this is essential to ensure that teeth do not shift back towards their original positions. In the first year after treatment, attend more frequent check-ups to monitor the stability of your results. A beautiful, straight smile is an investment that lasts a lifetime when properly maintained.
