For children, an orthodontic assessment is recommended around age 7-8, even if treatment starts later. Treatment process

What to know before and after treatment

During orthodontic treatment, oral hygiene becomes more important than ever - you should brush after every meal and use special floss (superfloss) or interdental brushes to clean around brackets. Avoid hard, sticky and chewy foods (nuts, caramels, chewing gum, crusty bread, whole apples - cut them into pieces instead). After braces are removed, wear your retainers exactly as instructed - this is essential to ensure that teeth do not shift back towards their original positions. In the first year after treatment, attend more frequent check-ups to monitor the stability of your results. A beautiful, straight smile is an investment that lasts a lifetime when properly maintained.
