What is this treatment?

Dental implantology represents one of the greatest achievements of modern dentistry. A dental implant is a small titanium screw (a biocompatible material that fully integrates with bone) placed into the jawbone to serve as an artificial root. After a healing period, a custom-made crown is mounted on top. The result is a tooth that looks, feels and functions exactly like a natural one - without damaging adjacent teeth, without movement, and without restrictions on what you can eat. At ZANI Dental, every implant case is planned with precision using 3D cone-beam CT technology, which allows us to assess bone quantity and quality and position the implant in the most optimal way. This technology also enhances safety by allowing us to visualise critical structures such as nerves and sinuses before the procedure.

Who is it suitable for?

Dental implants are suitable for most adults who have lost one or more teeth and enjoy good oral health. Sufficient bone volume in the jaw is required to support the implant. In cases where the bone is insufficient (often due to tooth loss having occurred a long time ago), we can perform bone regeneration procedures (bone grafting) prior to implant placement. Good oral hygiene and the absence of uncontrolled systemic conditions (such as decompensated diabetes) are also important. Heavy smoking can negatively affect implant success and should be discussed during your consultation.

Treatment process

3. 03Implant placement into the jawbone under local anaesthesia (typically 30-60 minutes per implant)
4. 04Healing period (osseointegration) - the process during which the bone grows around and bonds with the implant (usually 3-6 months)
5. 05Placement of the abutment (the connector between the implant and the crown) after full healing
6. 06Impression taking and fabrication of the custom crown by the dental laboratory
7. 07Final placement and fixation of the crown onto the abutment, with careful bite and aesthetic checks

What to know before and after treatment

After implant placement, follow your dentist's post-operative instructions carefully: apply ice packs for the first 24 hours to reduce swelling, avoid hard foods in the implant area for several weeks, and maintain excellent oral hygiene. Do not smoke during the healing period as this significantly compromises implant success. Once the final crown is placed, treat it exactly like a natural tooth - brush, floss and attend regular professional check-ups. With proper care and maintenance, your implant can serve you well for many years.
