What is this treatment?

Oral surgery covers a wide range of surgical procedures within the oral cavity, performed by specialist dentists under sterile conditions and with maximum patient safety. At ZANI Dental, we offer services including: tooth extractions (including problematic or impacted wisdom teeth), removal of benign oral cysts and tumours, jawbone surgery (bone grafting, maxillary sinus lift prior to implant placement), and procedures such as frenulectomy (removal of the tongue or lip frenulum). All procedures are performed with effective local anaesthesia and, where necessary, we can also offer sedation for maximum comfort. Our priority is to solve your problem with the minimum necessary intervention while ensuring your safety throughout the process.

Who is it suitable for?

Oral surgery is necessary when routine treatments are not sufficient: impacted or poorly positioned wisdom teeth, fractured roots that cannot be removed with simple extraction, cysts or lesions in the jawbone, insufficient bone for implant placement, or supernumerary teeth. If you experience pain at the back of your jaw, persistent facial swelling, or difficulty opening your mouth, consult your dentist to evaluate your needs. Not all these symptoms necessarily require surgery - a proper diagnosis is essential to determine the right course of action.

What to know before and after treatment

After oral surgery, rest for the first 24-48 hours and avoid strenuous physical activity. Apply ice packs externally to the cheek for 15 minutes each hour to reduce swelling. Do not rinse your mouth forcefully for the first 24 hours; after this period, rinse gently with warm salt water. Eat soft, lukewarm foods for the first 3-7 days. Take prescribed medications as directed. If you experience severe pain, persistent bleeding or fever, contact us immediately. Most patients recover well within a week and can return to normal activities shortly after.
